Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman says the county is ready for the incoming winter storm this weekend.
Meteorologists say the storm is set to begin at 6 a.m. Sunday and start off with snow and freezing temperatures.
The county says it is bracing for 8 to 14 inches of snow and will have more than 70 plows out beginning on Sunday to treat the roads.
The county says it is opening a warming center at 1200 Old Country Rd. The warming center will be open 24 hours and will be stocked with meals, blankets and cots.
Residents are also urged to call PSEG Long Island if wires come down and power is lost at 1-800-490-0075 or 911 if it is an emergency.
Blakeman says residents should stay home if they can on Sunday.
