Dozens met at the Stony Brook train station Saturday for a Black Lives Matter rally.
Organizers say the rally was scheduled months ago, long before the outcome of Tuesday's election.
They say the group is marching for peace and racial equality.
The group was met with a counter-protest by the "All Lives Matter" movement at the corner of North Country Road and Route 25A in Setauket.
