Billy Joel performed his 100th sold-out show at Madison Square Garden Wednesday night.
Joel has the most sold-out lifetime performances by any artist in a single arena. The show also marked the 54th in the four-and-a-half year run at the Garden.
Joel, his wife Alexis and daughter Della, along with his crew raised a banner to the rafters in front of the crowd to commemorate his 100th show. Bruce Springsteen also joined Joel on stage to perform as the surprise guest.
Before the performance, a special ceremony was held for the Hicksville native, where he was presented with a piano, plaque and proclamation from Gov. Andrew Cuomo, declaring yesterday Billy Joel Day. The piano and plaque will be on display at the Garden for fans to visit.
