Nassau County roads were filled with hundreds of bikers Sunday riding around the island to raise money for those recovering from alcohol and drug addiction.
The bikers began revving their engines for the 20-mile ride in East Meadow at noon. They ended in Wantagh Park hours later. The ride was organized by the Alliance Motorcycle Club
Each biker donated $15 to join the pack. At the end of the ride, their bikes were blessed by Father Brent Crompton. Crompton heads the non-profit organization Bridges of New York, a program that helps recovering addicts and newly released convicts.
Charlie Jesel, co-founder of the Alliance Motorcycle Club, turned his life around 17 years ago after addiction, and says it is important to help others do the same.
This year?s ride was the 10th supported by the club. Each year the organization picks a different charity to donate to.
