Several Long Island bicyclists are preparing for a long ride to raise money for cancer research.
About 180 people - 19 from Long Island - will be cycling 546 miles over seven days for the Empire State Ride. Nineteen of the riders are from Long Island.
The ride, now in its fifth year, starts in Staten Island and finishes at Niagara Falls in Buffalo.
Many riders have lost a loved one to cancer and some are survivors themselves.
The ride raises money for Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center in Buffalo. So far, the cyclists have raised more than $800,000.
The 7-day ride starts Sunday, July 28.
