Bicyclist injured in West Islip crash
Suffolk police say a bicyclist was hospitalized after being struck by a vehicle Saturday in West Islip.
Police say they got a call just after 12 p.m reporting the crash by the intersection of Douglas Avenue and Toomey Road.
Police say a driver in a Hyundai was headed north on Toomey Road when his vehicle struck a man on a bicycle, who had been heading west from Douglas Avenue onto Toomey Road.
After the collision, the cyclist then crashed into a parked vehicle, according to police.
The bicyclist was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center with minor injuries.
The bicyclist and the driver have not been identified.
