Bethany House, which runs five homes in Baldwin, Bellmore and Roosevelt and provides shelter to homeless women and children, is now partnering with ProHEALTH Care.
Anyone living or working at one of the shelters is now able to access free health care from the health system.
Marie DePestre says she loves Bethany House, which took her in when she was pregnant, had a young son, and had nowhere else to go.
“I feel like myself there. I feel like I have a family there,” says DePestre.
She says the new partnership will give her peace of mind.
ProHEALTH Care President and CEO Dr. Zeyad Baker says health care should never be about the money.
“The patients that need you the most are actually the ones who can't get to you,” says Dr. Baker. “Bethany House embodies that.”
In addition to offering the free health care, ProHEALTH has also committed to raising $100,000 for Bethany House.
