There is no better way to pass the time than with a board game.
So unplug for a bit since there is no Wi-Fi required – it’s time to take a step back into a simpler time. Here are some recommendations from a former board game guru.

1. Monopoly

Unwritten rule. If you land on free parking, you get $500.

 2. Clue

Only the slyest players will survive. Since it’s the parents…in the living room…with the board game… for a while, why not dust off this classic?

3. Battleship

You can’t miss with this one, and you can only hide all your ships in one corner for so long.

4. Yahtzee

It’s fun to say. It’s fun to play.

5. Scattergories

Let the debates begin. Kudos go to the smart answers – while other answers seem to live forever (A suitcase is not an appliance – circa 1993). Don't have the board game? Here's a Scattergories list generator

6. Sorry!

Without the exclamation point, this would not seem like a very fun game. Somehow, the punctuation saves it and it has gone down in history as one of the best. No piece is safe on the board. Sorry, not sorry!

7. Mousetrap

You may need a pilot’s license to put together the traps, but once they are together, it’s hours of fun.

8. The Game of Life

Nothing will prepare you for all of life’s curveballs like The Game of Life.

9. Trouble

Why was popping the bubble in the middle so much fun? Who knows. Some things don’t need a deep dive. But no trouble naming this as one of the best games.
If you have Chutes and Ladders, Risk, Pictionary, Scrabble, take those off the shelf too and rediscover cardboard fun. What are your favorite old-school board games?
