A Bellport man who accidentally ran over his son in their driveway two years ago was arrested early Friday on driving drunk charges.
Police say they pulled Robert Palange over for swerving in and out of traffic on Boyle Road in Selden. According to police, Palange registered a .18 blood alcohol content in his fourth DWI arrest.
Police also say he was also driving without a valid license.
The arrest occurred just two days after Palange got out of prison on another charge. The Suffolk District Attorney's Office said he was released Wednesday after serving four months for criminal contempt.
Views about Palange have changed since the 2005 driveway accident, which young Bobby Palange is still recovering from. Many people were sympathetic towards the elder Palange after the accident, but criticism is mounting after his latest arrest.
Kim Palange, who wouldn't speak on camera, said her son is doing very well, but Robert is a different story. "We've been separated for the past two years and we're in the middle of a divorce," she said. "His actions are his own actions, has nothing to do with me or my children."
Bail was set at $25,000 and police confiscated Robert Palange's car.
