Bellmore parents, students and faculty members celebrated the 100th anniversary of the Winthrop Avenue School.
Dozens of families and their students enjoyed a DJ, games and an instrumental performance from students.
Jessica Ventimiglia has a son who graduated from Winthrop a few years ago and has a daughter who's currently there now. She says she loves how close the school community is and can’t believe how long the school has been a part of Bellmore.
"I'm curious to know what it looked like, how big it was, how many students were here 100 years ago,” she said. “I can only imagine the huge change from then to now."
Attendees could also take a trip back in time through the school's history. Staff and students set up a museum in the auditorium with artifacts from every decade of the school's history.
The school currently serves students in grades 3 and 4.
