Many New Yorkers may feel that they are far removed from wildlife but in reality, we are all surrounded by it.
"We're surrounded by water in New York City," Leigh Clayton, director of the New York Aquarium reminds us.
The 'Washed Ashore: Art to Save the Sea' exhibit is now open to the public and News 12 got an exclusive look. The exhibit, which is made up of 35 sculptures, is made entirely of marine debris.
Its goal is to highlight the impact of plastic pollution on our oceans, while empowering exhibit goers.
"It is just such an amazing opportunity to look at 'Chompers The Shark' and then see sharks and make that connection that picking up your plastic shovel, you are making a choice that can help these animals right here, right in front of you."
The exhibit is open to the public now through Sept. 2.
