The Merrick community held a fundraiser Saturday in honor of an award-winning pastry chef who used his baking skills to help children fight cancer.
The Be A Good Cookie Merrick event outside RS Beanery continued Richard Capizzi's efforts to raise millions of dollars for treatment and research for pediatric cancer.
Capizzi would be diagnosed with cancer before he died from the disease in 2022.
The fundraiser was one of many that will be held through the month to help fight pediatric cancer.
