Bayville residents gathered for a hearing Monday night where they were divided over plans for a new hotel that would overlook the Long Island Sound.
Bayville Mayor Bob De Natale and the Village Board voted to stop the proposed Seaside Inn project from moving forward by repealing changes in the village code.
The Seaside Inn would've been a 23-room hotel with a restaurant and bar on Bayville's waterfront.
Those initially against the project say the size of the hotel was too big and out of character for the village. Proponents argued that it would bring life and business back to Bayville.
Some residents questioned that if the project doesn’t happen, if there would be something else built on the property instead. The mayor did not give further details.
The board says if the developer wants to revise his plan, they would be open to discussion.
