Boaters and residents in Bay Shore are saying no deal to a casino boat in their marina.
The Southern Elegance is the south shore?s newest casino boat, but residents say its current location is an eyesore and an environmental hazard. They say they have linked a 10-gallon fuel spill over the weekend to the boat, though the Coast Guard says it still doesn?t know where the fuel came from. Residents also say there is a lack of parking in the area.
The casino?s owner, Gary Smith, says he doesn?t want the boat docked there either. He says he originally had a deal with the Town of Islip to use town-owned space in a different, lower-traffic area. Smith says the Bay Shore marina is the best place he can find that is legal and will work.
