The Bay Shore Lions Club has made a commitment to donate $30,000 over the next three years to food pantries in the community.
The donation will help put hot meals on the tables of needy Long Islanders this Thanksgiving.
Catherine Dennis, who runs the food pantry and soup kitchen at Saint Patrick's in Bay Shore, says donations are down but the line at their door continues to grow. She says she feels blessed to live in a community that helps take care of those less fortunate.
Saint Patrick's serves breakfast and lunch five days a week and provides other services for those in need.
