Baseball fans around the world are mourning the loss of "The Kid" this morning. Former Mets catcher Gary Carter lost his battle with brain cancer yesterday. Carter's nickname stems from acting like a kid playing the game, always smiling, and always giving 100 percent. Carter was diagnosed with an inoperable tumor about nine months ago.
Carter played 19 seasons in the majors, was an 11-time all-star and was inducted into the Hall of Fame. Carter also gave Long Island fans a thrill when he managed the Ducks in 2008.
