Bail reduced for Central Islip man accused of killing bicyclist while driving high

The bail for 21-year-old David Alfaro was lowered from $100,000 to $75,000 in court on Friday.

Bail has been reduced for a Central Islip man charged with driving high and killing a teen bicyclist.
The bail for 21-year-old David Alfaro was lowered from $100,000 to $75,000 in court on Friday.
Alfaro was charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs after allegedly striking 19-year-old Eryk McPherson in Central Islip over the weekend. McPherson died from the injuries he sustained.
Alfaro's defense attorney says his client is innocent.
"We understand how the other family feels, but I have a family that feels awful too because their son is being charged with an offense he's not guilty of," says Steven Politi.
It is not clear if Alfaro will be able to post bail now that is has been reduced.
