The Town of Babylon is battling against bamboo.
The town board will vote on a proposed law that would require homeowners to restrict and contain the invasive plant.
Inspectors would check properties where they believe bamboo originated. If homeowners don't comply with the rules, they could be fined $500 per day.
Since 2001, about a dozen municipalities across Long Island have tried to restrict the plant.
The Babylon Town Board is expected to vote on the bill next month. The town supervisor believes it will pass.
