Babylon Town officials are asking residents who live south of Montauk Highway to move their cars to higher ground as Hermine lingers offshore.
Officials suggest that residents park their vehicles at one of the local train station parking lots, or leave them at the home of a friend who lives north of Montauk Highway. They say it's a precaution in case of any flooding Hermine might bring.
Hermine is expected to bring storm surges and the potential for moderate coastal flooding in low-lying areas, including Babylon.
Town crews also spent the weekend cleaning out storm drains.
Despite the looming storm, beachgoers flocked to Venetian Shores in Lindenhurst for a sunny Sunday while other residents were stocking up on storm supplies.
Christine Rose and her two sons stocked up on baby formula, milk and diapers at the Stop and Shop in Amityville.
Patricia and Jim Gumina, whose home had to be restored after Sandy, said that along with storm supplies like lanterns and flashlights, they safely packed their insurance documents.
