Detectives say two people are accused of scamming a man in Massapequa Park.
They say the 89-year-old man's son contacted police after the victim received a call saying his grandson was under arrest and needed $8,500 for his release.
Police say an arrangement was made to meet up at the Lake Shore Drive home to pick up the cash.
Just before 6 p.m. Tuesday night, officers arrested a 17-year-old girl and 21-year-old Marte Wander, of the Bronx.
Wander was released on appearance ticket.
