The Union County Prosecutor's Office is asking for the public’s help in identifying a person of interest connected to a fatal stabbing at a popular chain restaurant.
Linden police responded to a call at around 10 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 9, with reports of a fight. Officials say when they got there, they found 35-year-old Erik Kuns, of Keyport, unresponsive with an apparent stab wound. He was taken to the hospital, where he later died.
Erik Kuns (pictured) was fatally stabbed outside a Linden TGI Friday's on Nov. 9.
Police are now asking for the public’s help in identifying a person of interest. He’s described as a Black male, approximately 6 feet, 200 pounds, with shoulder-length locks and a black and gray patch beard. At the time of the incident, he was seen dressed in all black, with red and black Air Jordan 14 sneakers and no visible tattoos. Police say the man they’re looking for is around 50 years old and possibly goes by the name "D."
News 12 spoke to Erik Kuns' niece, Kaylie, who started the Facebook page
Justice for Erik Jay Kuns. She says, now that there’s a person of interest and his face is out there, it gives her family hope that the person will be caught. But most importantly, she wants people to know the kind of man her uncle was.
"He was the most loving and compassionate person. He was a son, a brother, an uncle, and a nephew. He had the biggest heart. He was in the union in New York, he was a hard worker, he was the strongest person I’ve ever known. We’re all feeling very angry that this happened and we’re all sad there’s an emptiness in our family without him," Kaylie said.
They ask anyone with information to contact the Union County Prosecutor’s Office. People can also call 908-654-TIPS.
There’s a $10,000 reward for any information leading to an arrest or an indictment.
Authorities are asking anyone with information about the stabbing to call Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Task Force Detective Darius Singletary at 908-632-0537, Sgt. Nick Veltre at 908-347-7330, or Linden Police Detective Nick Philippakos at 908-474-8530.
