Two completely separate duckling rescue operations occurred in Bellport and Riverside Monday, with more than a dozen of them returned safely.
The Save The Animals Rescue Foundation (STAR) was first called to Foxglove Circle in Bellport Monday morning for a duckling rescue from a storm drain. A member of their rescue and recovery team was able to rescue four ducklings.

Suffolk Emergency Services says it was called to assist in rescuing the remainder of the ducks, and removed three drain covers to make the attempt. Police say there were 10 ducklings rescued in total.
Hours later, Southampton Town police were called about five ducklings stuck in a storm drain on State Route 24 in Riverside.
The town's police and fire departments, as well as state wildlife rescue responded to assist in the rescue, which took about an hour.
All of the ducks were returned to their mother unharmed.
