An audit by the state comptroller reports some Long Island school districts are not reporting most violent incidents to the state education department.
Officials say all incidents, whether it's guns, knives, or fights in school, are required to be reported to the state. The audit says Brentwood reported 87 incidents to the state between 2003 and 2004, but its school records documented 357.
Brentwood Superintendent Lee Black says the audit does not reflect the district?s efforts to keep its schools safe. Black says the schools continue to do what is necessary to maintain a safe environment for kids.
