Connecticut Attorney General William Tong was at the FBI's headquarters in New Haven on Tuesday to announce a cybercrimes public awareness campaign.
The agency shared an important message to the community against frauds and scams.
The FBI says these scams usually happen through unexpected contact by unknown people through text, phone calls and emails.
Tong and FBI officials said to never send payments to unknown people or organizations that are seeking money and urge immediate action.
