Arson investigators were on the scene of a house fire in Woodmere Saturday where one person and three dogs perished.
Firefighters described the fire as a ?raging inferno? when they arrived at the Barr Avenue home around 11:30 a.m. Fire officials say a body was discovered in a first-floor bedroom. They say the body was burned beyond recognition.
Investigators sifted through the debris of the fire. Nassau Police Det. Lt. Kevin Smith says an accelerant may have been used to start the fire because it was so intense.
Police say four people lived in the home. The Red Cross is helping the other occupants with shelter.
