A man responsible for putting a Suffolk landscaper in a coma is behind bars, according to police.Police arrested 24-year-old Michael Pekrul, of Miller Place, for the beating of 31-year-old Kevin Combs, of Blue Point. Officials say Combs was beaten in two different locations after he left the Old Port Pub in Port Jefferson around 11:30 p.m. on May 16. Police say Combs was pushed and shoved outside Billy's Bar, but walked away from the altercation. Combs was then followed, punched to the ground and repeatedly kicked in front of nearby Vandermuelen High School in Port Jefferson, police say.Combs' parents pleaded for the public's help in the case as their son laid in a hospital in a coma. Police are still investigating to determine what a possible motive might have been for the assault.Combs' family says they believe a second suspect is still on the loose, but officials say Pekrul acted alone.
