A federal appeals court reversed a portion of former Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano’s convictions on Thursday.
Mangano’s conviction for federal programs bribery and conspiracy to commit federal programs bribery were reversed.
He was convicted in 2019 of taking bribes to help get millions of dollars in Oyster Bay town-backed loans for a restaurant owner.
Mangano argued he could not be convicted of the federal bribery charges because he was not an Oyster Bay Town official. The court agreed and reversed that part of the ruling.
The remainder of the charges against Mangano, and his wife Linda Mangano were affirmed.
The ruling also says that Ed Mangano should be resentenced.
He is currently serving 12 years in prison.
