One of Long Island's biggest fireworks shows returned for another year.
The Astoria Bank July 4th Fireworks at Jones Beach State Park began at 9:30 p.m. at the Central Mall. More than 100,000 people showed up to watch the spectacle.
Traffic flowing in and out of the beach was steady throughout the day, but officials were keeping the vehicles moving with the exception of one small hiccup when the drawbridge on Wantagh Parkway would not close.
There was a noticeable boost in security this year as officers could be spotted just about anywhere.
