Have you heard of an "Angel Shot?"

It's not a drink, but a code patrons at bars use to alert a bartender that they're in trouble.

Now, there's a new smart phone app to help do the same to help keep customers safe.

It's called the Angel Shot App and launched at several bars and restaurants across Long Island Monday.

"If you go into a place and you feel uncomfortable, you open up the app and its sends an alert that signals to the bartender and cashier that there's an issue and you need help," explained developer Jimmy LaSalle.

About 50 restaurants and bars across the region are taking part in the new customer alert system.
