The pastor of a North Amityville church is in critical condition Wednesday after he was hit by a car.

Police say Pastor Russell Murphy was walking home on Sunrise Highway in Lindenhurst Tuesday night when he was struck by a teenage driver. They say the 53-year old pastor was on foot because his car had broken down. They say he was hit while on the Wellwood Avenue exit ramp.

No charges have been filed against the driver.

Murphy is the co-pastor of the Amityville Community Church.
