American Pharoah became the first horse to win the Triple Crown since 1978 before a sold-out crowd at Belmont Park Saturday.
More than 90,000 people packed Belmont Park Saturday for the 147th running of the race.
The Belmont Stakes is the third and final race in the Triple Crown series, which also includes the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness Stakes.
American Pharoah won the race four lengths to become the first Triple Crown winner in decades. Thirteen horses had since won the first two races and come up short at Belmont, which is the longest track of the three.
Saturday's event was American Pharoah's fourth race in eight weeks, which is a heavier than typical workload.
Organizers say the event officially sold out Friday night. No tickets were available for purchase at the gates. The MTA added Long Island Rail Road service at the new Belmont station for those attending.
