Hundreds of county workers may lose their jobs due to the state Senate power struggle in Albany.Among the bills lawmakers did not pass before their deadline was a bill calling for a $2 tax on cigarettes in Nassau County. Nassau County Executive Tom Suozzi says the tax would have helped fill the county's budget gap by $20 million and save a youth program. He says a bill related to the use of bonds also wasn't passed, which he says would have saved the jobs of 1,000 county employees.Suozzi says he is looking at closing county offices beginning July 8 and laying off workers beginning July 11, but says he needs to speak with unions before committing to any timetable.
