An accused slumlord blamed for the carbon monoxide deaths of three people in West Babylon pleaded not guilty to a slew of charges Thursday.
Wilson Milord is charged with criminally negligent homicide, four counts of mortgage fraud, scheming to defraud and obtaining a fake ID. He faces up to 15 years behind bars.
Prosecutors say Milord rented out a West Babylon home that was under foreclosure and had no heat, running water or electricity. Tenants Tanisha Armstrong, her 4-year-old daughter, Talani, and Ricardo Pearce were killed by carbon monoxide poisoning caused by a gas generator that Milord put in the home, according to prosecutors.
Milord allegedly moved the gas generator indoors because he feared the noise would cause neighbors to complain to the town.
Milord is due back in court Nov. 17. His bail has been set at $250,000.
