A Wantagh man accused of impersonating a Nassau police officer faced a judge Friday afternoon.
Police say Peter Brasile, of Wantagh, flashed a fake badge and told a driver to pull over during a road rage incident on Wantagh Avenue Thursday.
Police say Brasile was riding in the passenger's seat when he believed another car cut them off. That's when Brasile yelled at the car to pull over and flashed a badge.
That badge was a New York City bus operator's shield, investigators say.
The victim pulled over and quickly became concerned that Brasile was not an officer, and dialed 911. Brasile was arrested.
In court today, Brasile declined to comment to reporters, but his wife said, "It's all a misunderstanding."
Brasile is due back in court on Tuesday.
