The Muttontown couple accused of slave labor went back before a judge Monday for allegedly violating their bail agreement.
Varsha and Mahender Sabhnani have been out of jail under house arrest for approximately three weeks, but now there are reports they could be heading back. The couple is accused of holding two Indonesian women captive in their home, forcing them to work long hours and endure brutal punishments.The couple's bail agreement stipulated they put $4.5 million toward bail and pay thousands to turn their home into a virtual prison.
Prosecutors hauled the couple back to court for allegedly allowing employees to conduct business for them, a violation of their bail stipulations. However, the couple walked out of the courtroom after proceedings Monday. Both prosecutors and the couple?s defense attorney would not comment on the court appearance.
