(10/26/06) CENTRAL ISLIP - A Huntington Station teacher whose computer allegedly contained child pornography and stories glorifying cannibalism might be granted bail soon.
Michael Reiner, of East Meadow, taught at the Long Island School for the Gifted before being charged with 10 counts of possession of child pornography. After four days of hearings, the judge seems to be leaning towards granting conditional bail. No child or adult has ever complained of improper contact or conduct by the former teacher.
Reiner's attorney says his client would have to prove employment and that he does not reside near children in order to make bail. He would also not be permitted to access a computer. His lawyer also says Reiner offered to wear an ankle bracelet with a GPS monitoring system. The bail hearing will continue on Tuesday, October 31.
