Many Long Islanders are kicking off their Fourth of July weekend celebrations today, although travel is expected to be a little different than previous years.
For the first time since it began issuing travel forecasts in 2000, AAA will not be forecasting numbers this holiday weekend.
However, when it comes to summer travel as a whole, AAA says Americans will take roughly 700 million trips.
A total of 97% of those are said to be road trips
When it comes to flying, only about 15 million people are expected to fly – that is down from 58 million last year.
