AAA predicts over 98 million people will be traveling for the long Christmas weekend.
Officials say about 91 percent of those people will be driving, mostly due to the low cost of fuel. The average price for a gallon of regular on Long Island is $2.83.
Meanwhile, on the tracks, the Long Island Rail Road is adding 13 extra eastbound trains from Penn Station this afternoon. On Christmas Day, the railroad will be on a holiday schedule.
Airlines are asking passengers check with their carrier because there are already a handful of cancellations at JFK and LaGuardia due to the stormy weather.
