More than 600 runners took off from Wantagh High School Sunday for the district's first Wantagh Warrior 9/11 Memorial 5K.
The race honors the memory of those from the Wantagh community who died on Sept. 11, including Danielle Fehling-Wasnieski's husband, Lee S. Fehling.
"He was a police officer, first for the NYPD for five years and then was transferred over to the fire department and that was the job that he really loved to do," she said.
