Six people, including three children, tumbled overboard into the water Wednesday evening when two boats crashed near Jones Beach.
A 14-foot vessel collided with a 23-foot vessel offshore, according to the Coast Guard. The people who fell were all on the smaller boat.
Officials say a good Samaritan and the people aboard the larger vessel helped rescue the victims. One person sustained a minor injury.
The operator of the 23-foot vessel reported being blinded by the sun before the accident.
