Six members of the Air National Guard's 103rd Guardian Angels were honored in Westhampton Beach yesterday for their bravery.

The six soldiers were awarded the Bronze Star during a ceremony in Westhampton Beach. They were recognized for rescuing four critically wounded soldiers in Kandahar, Afghanistan.

The leader of the group, Capt. Ronnie Maloney, is from Middle Island. Maloney says they made it through heavy gunfire to rescue their fellow soldiers.
