5 Long Island malls to close today amid coronavirus outbreak
Indoor portions of shopping malls, amusement parks and bowling alleys must be closed by 8 p.m. tonight, according to new orders from Albany lawmakers.
New York, Connecticut, New Jersey and Pennsylvania are all enforcing the restrictions statewide.
At least five shopping malls on Long Island have announced they will be closing until March 29.
Simon Property Group announced the closures of Roosevelt Field, Walt Whitman Shops and Smith Haven Mall.
Westfield South Shore in Bay Shore and Westfield Sunrise in Massapequa will also be closed starting today through March 29.
The move is part of social distancing efforts to reduce the spread of COVID-19.
Bars, restaurants and gyms have already been shut down across the state because of the outbreak.
