Five Long Island hospitals were ranked among the top performing medical centers in the nation.
The U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services gave five stars to the following hospitals:
- Huntington Hospital
- Mather Hospital in Port Jefferson
- North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset
- St. Francis Hospital & Heart Center in Roslyn
- NYU-Langone Long Island Hospital in Mineola
The number is up from last year, when three Long Island hospitals received top rankings.
