The 2019 Hampton Classic kicked off Sunday, bringing one of the largest outdoor horse shows in the country right to Bridgehampton.
For the next week, the 65-acre grounds of the event will be filled with tens of thousands of spectators, along with top equestrian competitors from around the world who are vying for more than $800,000 in prize money.
The iconic summer Hamptons event often draws celebrities -- but it's really for everyone, organizers say. Admission was free all day today Sunday.
During the rest of the competition, it will cost just $10 per person to get in or $20 per car load. And parking is free throughout the event.
In addition to the world-class horse competition, several special events are also being held at the grounds in Bridgehampton. Sunday marked animal adoption day. And next Saturday is Kids Day presented by News 12 Long Island -- that's when everyone under the age of 12 will get in for free, and kids will also get a free pony ride.
The competitions got underway on Sunday and will continue through Sept. 1.
