Police are looking for four robbers who may be responsible for several home invasions in Nassau, including one Tuesday, in which the men tied up the occupant of a Freeport home after forcing their way in.
Police say four Hispanic men between the ages of 28 and 40 entered the home on Washburn Avenue at around 12:30 p.m. One of them flashed a police shield and one had a silver handgun, police say. According to authorities, the robbers tied the man up with an electrical cord and shut his four nieces and nephews away in another room.
Cops say the men may also be the culprits in home invasions in Merrick and Rockville Centre that occurred within the past few months. Freeport resident Carlos Martinez says he was the victim of a similar home invasion last month. Martinez says four Hispanic men burst into his sister's apartment and tied her and her daughter?s hands with tape. Martinez says the men told him to get the money and jewelry and they told him they were police officers.
In the latest Freeport home invasion, the men got away with cash and jewelry, but no one was hurt. Police are asking anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. Nassau police are also working with the NYPD investigating 10 other incidents in Brooklyn and Queens that may be related to the Nassau home invasions.
