NASA has selected 57 winning teams out of more than 600
entries in a nationwide tech contest – and three are from Long Island.
NASA hosted a challenge designed to attract, engage and
prepare
future STEM professionals. The winning proposals included measuring
greenhouse gases, space farm irrigation systems, lunar dust mitigation and
more.
Connetquot High School and Sewanhaka High School were both
high-altitude balloon winners. Brentwood High School was a suborbital rocket
winner.
They will each receive $1,500 to build their experiments and
will begin working on their projects this spring.
