The death of a second pedestrian just days after a similar death is raising safety concerns about a busy stretch of road in Bay Shore.
The most recent death happened Monday night. The other pedestrian was killed Friday night. Both accidents happened on Brentwood Road near the Sunrise Highway overpass between around 6:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m., according to police.
Residents say the area is too dark and dangerous, but people who don't have vehicles often cross there.
"We are going to apply some additional speed enforcement at the time those accidents occurred," says Suffolk County Police Department Chief Stuart Cameron. "We're also looking at deploying one of our speed signs."
No criminal charges have been filed in either case, but Cameron says the investigations are ongoing.
