29-year-old Bay Shore woman killed after getting hit by car in Brentwood
Suffolk County police say Ileana Cabrera, of Bay Shore, was in the eastbound lane of Third Avenue near Second Street when she was hit by a Nissan driven by 26-year-old Edwin Ortez, also of Bay Shore.

A 29-year-old woman was killed after being struck by a car in Brentwood early Sunday morning.
Suffolk County police say Ileana Cabrera, of Bay Shore, was in the eastbound lane of Third Avenue near Second Street when she was hit by a Nissan driven by 26-year-old Edwin Ortez, also of Bay Shore.
Cabrera was taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Police say Ortez was not injured and remained at the scene following the crash.
The Nissan was impounded for a safety inspection.
