A ceremony was held to honor Long Island heroes who served our country.
Hundreds gathered at the Veterans Memorial Plaza at Eisenhower Park Saturday, where 280 names were added to the Wall of Honor.
The memorial, which already contains 10,000 names on it, stands to honor those who served our country. It was first unveiled in 1991.
"It's an important place to come and remember that freedom is not free," says Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano. "These are the names and faces of the families that made sacrifices so that we can enjoy the freedoms that we enjoy here in the United States of America each and every day."
