Cleanup is underway this morning across Long Island after severe thunderstorms rolled over the area last night.

Parts of Suffolk County's North Shore got hit the hardest, including Shoreham, Wading River and Rocky Point.

Viewers sent pictures of downed trees that toppled power lines, cars and blocked off entire roads in Rocky Point, including on Ridge Road, King Road, Prince Road and at Robert Miner Park.

Rocky Point firefighters handled 17 weather-related calls in an hour, including one working fire on Birch Road.

There are only a handful of scattered outages across the island, but PSEG Long Island said crews are on the ground this morning assessing the damage and making repairs.

News 12's team of meteorologists said a heat advisory remains in effect for portions of Long Island today.

More severe weather could return during the late afternoon and evening, including scattered thunderstorms that could bring damaging wind gusts, frequent lightning and torrential rainfall.
